چکیده

The contribution to frictionFriction stemming from dissipation of plastic energy is studied by numerical simulations and experiments. geometrical setup consists a single model asperity, which first flattened against tool with grooves on smaller length scale. Relative, tangential sliding between the asperity induced subsequently until steady state reached. flank angle varied. Comparison experiments leads validation at low angles, while current implementation cannot handle complicated flow around large angle. At simulated force in agreement when keeping one determined friction factor. This proves that change force, corresponding apparent factor, only due dissipated wavesPlastic waves. validated can be used determine wider range factors for strain hardening materials.

Deformation mechanisms in nanotwinned metal nanopillars.

Nanotwinned metals are attractive in many applications because they simultaneously demonstrate high strength and high ductility, characteristics that are usually thought to be mutually exclusive. However, most nanotwinned metals are produced in polycrystalline forms and therefore contain randomly oriented twin and grain boundaries making it difficult to determine the origins of their useful mec...

Inelastic Contact Deformation of Metal Coated Fibers

ÐMetal matrix composites (MMCs) can be synthesized by aligning metal coated ceramic ®bers in a shaped container and applying pressure at elevated temperatures. The high stresses created at the contacts between neighboring ®bers cause inelastic matrix ̄ow that ®lls inter®ber voids, reduces inter®ber separations and results in composite densi®cation. The rate of densi®cation depends on the contac...

An overview of stabilizing deformation mechanisms in incremental sheet forming

In Incremental Sheet Forming (ISF) strains can be obtained well above the Forming Limit Curve (FLC) that is applicable to common sheet forming operations like deep drawing and stretching. This paper presents an overview of mechanisms that have been suggested to explain the enhanced formability. The difference between fracture limit and necking limit in sheet metal forming is discussed. The neck...

Molecular dynamics simulation of single asperity contact

We present a series of molecular dynamics simulations of single asperity contact and deformation that occurs as two rough surfaces are brought together, loaded and then separated. We monitor the force between the two surfaces, the total potential energy, the Q6 order parameter, the effective minimum contact radius and the conductance (using the modified Sharvin equation). The deformation is obs...

Prediction of Instability in Planar Anisotropic Sheet Metal Forming Processes

In this paper instability of planar anisotropic sheet metal during a few forming processes is investigated for the first time. For this reason components of the constitutive tangent tensor for planar anisotropic sheets are developed. By using the above tensor location of necking is predicted. Direction of the shear band is also predicted using the acoustic tensor. A finite element program is pr...
